Scottish Rite meetings are attended in what are called a “Valley”. All that a Master Mason needs to present is his dues card and their progress will be tracked through a degrees card. The main focus is that of morality and their duty to their God. There are numerous lessons which are referred to as degrees. These degrees are taught and displayed through scenes and characters. In all there are 29 degrees or lessons that can be separately obtained. These degrees are broken into four different categories. The first of which is called Lodge of Perfection and that covers degree 4 through 14. The 11 lessons predominantly focus on furthering the lessons of the first three degrees taken to become a Master Mason. The second is called Council of Princes of Jerusalem. These lessons use speculative symbolism from the building of the second Temple and the city of Babylon. The third explains degrees 17-18 and is called Chapter of Rose Croix. It walks one through degrees 15-16. These teachings focus on improving the soul. In essence treating yourself with the same respect that a sacred temple deserves and receives. The final is called Consistory and will teach the 19th through 32nd degree. The lost art of chivalry is reborn in these lessons. The principles that are explained are drawn from the 20th Century. As a whole, these lessons are designed to inspire reflection on the knowledge contained within all Masons in Masonry.
