York Rite Information. With shared roots in England and The Holy Land where King Solomon’s temple was built there is the York Rite. Most of its lessons are derived from Christian theology. The degrees are separated into three sections. Of which are Royal Arch Masons, Cryptic Masons and Knights Templar. The first degree of Royal Arch Masonry is known as the Mark Master Mason Degree. As the name suggests, it impresses on Masons to make their mark in society and thus they may receive their wages from God. The Past Master Degree influences leadership qualities but shows that one must first have the discipline to rule himself before leading others. Most Excellent Master Degree comes from King Solomon’s institution of new order of Masons. These Masons have proved themselves through vigorous diligence for the advancement of not only themselves but to those around them.Plainly put, it was written that the Royal Arch Degree has always been considered more “sublime and important than those which have preceded it and is the very summit of perfection in Ancient Masonry.”Within in the Cryptic Masons there contains three more degrees that one could obtain if he wished. The first of which is the Royal Master Degree. Chronologically, it preceded the Master Mason Degree; however, based upon the lessons contained within, it is only natural that it would come after the lessons received as a Master Mason. Select Master Degree explains rationally the concealment and preservations of those essential secrets brought to light in the Royal Arch Degree. The Super Excellent Master Degree focuses purely on the beautiful symbolism of Faith, Friendship and Fidelity. Then there are the degrees contained within the Knights Templar, the first of which is called The Illustrious Order of the Red Cross. You will learn of the sheer power of Truth.Passage then would go through The Order of Malta and the Mediterranean Pass. This is where we learn of the founding beliefs of the Knights Templar. The Order of the Temple is the next and final degree. Although no direct historic connection may be made to The Knights Templar, their members are still referred to as “Soldiers of the Cross”. Belief is in protection of the weak and oppressed, relief of the distressed and the defense of the Christian faith.
